United Airlines has unveiled its most ambitious international expansion to date, introducing service to eight new cities across four continents.
Beginning in May 2025, the airline will launch several new nonstop routes from its hubs in Newark/New York, Washington D.C./Dulles, and Tokyo-Narita, expanding its global footprint to destinations not served by any other U.S. carrier.
From its Newark hub, United will introduce five new nonstop routes to Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; and two Portuguese cities—Madeira Island and Faro. Meanwhile, Washington D.C./Dulles will see new nonstop flights to Dakar, Senegal, marking United’s first-ever service to the West African destination, alongside seasonal routes to Nice, France, and Venice, Italy.
United is also expanding its Asia-Pacific network, adding new direct flights from Tokyo-Narita to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan—both firsts for any U.S. airline—along with a new nonstop route to Koror, Palau. These flights will offer seamless connections to United’s U.S. hubs, further enhancing the airline’s extensive transpacific network.
This summer expansion unlocks a variety of unique travel experiences for customers, ranging from reindeer sleigh rides in Greenland and camel racing in Mongolia to visits to cultural landmarks like the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and Italy’s largest opera house in Palermo.
The expansion follows the latest chapter of United’s “Good Leads The Way” advertising campaign, which highlights the airline’s commitment to providing customers with unmatched global travel flexibility. This milestone reinforces United’s position as the world’s largest airline by network, offering travelers the widest range of options for international exploration.
